Christmas is my favorite holiday. I get it honestly from my Mom. She absolutely loved this time of year. You could tell it the minute you pulled onto our street. There were lights in the trees, across the front of the house, the plastic Santa was on the roof, Frosty was in the front yard, there were lights in all the windows, the front door was wrapped like a present.. and when you walked in… it was like a Christmas wonderland.. every room had decorations and lights! The tree was in a different spot every year. I think it was in every corner and in front of every window in the living room at one time or another.
I have most of the ornaments that were on the tree when I was growing up. Some got broke over the years, but I treasure the ones that I was able to keep. I’ve added to my ornament collection over the years. I gave some to my daughter for her Christmas tree.
I didn’t put up my big tree this year, and only picked a few from my collection to hang. They are not all expensive, or sparkly.. but they mean something to me. I chose these five to share with you.
This pink ball was my daughters “babies first Christmas” in 1981. It now hangs on her tree…
This ornament hung on my tree since my daughter was three years old and now it hangs on her tree.
This Gingerbread man has been on my Christmas tree for as long as I can remember.
A lady I used to work with many years ago made this bell for me.
My Dads last Christmas (1989) he was very sick. He didn’t want to put up a tree, but my daughter and I decided he needed a tree. We put up the small tree my Mom used in her last few years. I couldn’t find the tree top that belonged on the tree, so my daughter (age 8 that year) made a star for her Pappy’s tree.. This star has had a place on my tree since that Christmas .. it’s just a foil covered cardboard star.. but to me it is so, so much more and it will always have a spot on my Christmas tree..
Merry Christmas everyone…
